Okay, I just got my 240 last weekend for a fairly good price concidering the great condition it is in.

Its a 1990 240sx fastback(hatchback), the engine has about 122k miles on it, so I'm wanting to swap the engine out. I was originally thinking of swapping it with an SR20, but... since my mother partially owns the car, she doesn't want me to switch the auto trans to a manual trans. (but hey in the long run i'm saving about $100 a month on car insurance with her partly owning it....) and i have really yet to figure out if the SR is compatible with an auto trans..

So basicly, what would be the best way to go? Swapping the original engine with an SR or swapping it with a new KA?

And would anyone know of a place that would do or sell any one if these engine swap in So Cal?

It is possible to find a automatic SR, but that really takes a lot of the fun out of it. When it comes to keeping a KA or switching to an SR, it depends how much power are you looking for. Since this is also your mom's car, I guess its going to be a daily driver, so I think the most reliable would be a NA KA. Search this site and browse the forums and you will find a ton of info on exactly what youre looking for.

is there a reason youre worrying about the engine at 122k? is there something you know happened to the engine in the past that would make you worry about the engine so early?
