Howdy once again, everybody.

I'm in the middle of fixing up my 240sx and have an older 240 (same model, s13) to grab parts from. Here's the deal. The driver's seat in both cars are shot (they still work, mechanically speaking, but fabric wise are done for). What I"d like to know is if it's possible to transfer the passanger seat to the drivers side (obviously I have to keep the driver's frame which bolts it in and so forth).

Is it possible to do a swap for both upper and lower parts of the seat, that is, the back and the seat cushion? I've seen other posts, all talk about swapping the backs, so I know that's doable.

Any advice? Anyone ever done it?

Thanks agian to everyone who's been kind enough to offer advice and insight so far! The car is coming along well! Know I'm onto the cosmetic end of things.

I can't really tell you for sure. I'm sure you could, but I don't think that it would look right.

It's totally possible. I have it done in my 90' hatch, and I've done it in a couple others...looks fine.

Excellent! That's what I was hoping to hear.

Not to be a bother, but a quick overview would be nice, if you could provide it. I'm pretty quick on the uptake, so once I'm in front of the seats I'm sure I could figure it out. But I'd like to have an idea of procedures and tricks and snags I'll encounter before going in.

I probably should have elaborated more and asked more questions, yeah you can probably get away with switching the frame rails, not to hard just take a look. But heres a question. Is the bottom of the seat, the actual part you sit on ripped? or is in just the back piece?

Toshima, I don't think I can switch just the frame rails. The interior rail is shorter than the outer one, due to the frame and transmission. There's also the issue ot the lever to recline the seat. It's on the outside of the chair, facing the doors of the car. So if I were to simply switch them, the handle would know be facing inward, stuck by the center console.

SlidewaysScott, the back piece is ripped and needs to be replaced. I've found some articles on this site talking about that process, removing the fabric etc. But the seat, the part you sit on, while not being torn up, is certainly well worn and not nearly and supportive as it once was. I'm hoping I could swap the physical seat from the passanger (because seat wise, fabric, etc. it's the same) while maintining the drivers side seat rails and relclining parts, etc. Wish I knew better names for these things. The handle, the plastic housing and so forth.

I research this one time and I was told that only the back rest portion is exchangeable....the sitting portion is not swithable due to the reclining mechanism...this is what I was told one time.

Sorry I didn't get back to this till now but if it's just the back portion of the seat, then just swap that part, it's the easiest to do and ive done that more than swapping entire seats.

RamonetB, Steelers rock my socks and I'm in downtown pittsburgh just about every other day, about 20 min drive. I love this damn city.
