Swapping out dealer-installed VCR for DVD Player?

I just purchased a 2001 QX4, that came with the dealer-installed VCR entertainment system.

Has anyone done a swap with a DVD player being installed in the sleeve that's holding the VCR? I don't wish to change out the screen, speakers, or anything else, all I want to do is drop in a DVD player into the the place where the VCR is.

How would I go about this?

Keep the VCR. Or better yet go get a Beta-max & an 8-track player! F*ckin sweet man!

I'd love to see the set-up. Where did they mount it? Is the screen in the dash or mounted to the ceiling? Did it come with Smokey and the Bandit?
