i already have an AEM cold air intake on my 06 350Z, and ive heard with a short ram intake you get alittle more hp for it cuz of the short tubing!

so im thinking of swapping my AEM cold air intake for a fujita short ram intake...........

you guys think its a good swap???

thanks

CAI vs. SR have their pros and cons. SR might have less restriction but it draws hotter air because the cone is mounted inside the engine bay. CAI might have more restriction but it draws cooler air away from the engine bay.

One thing I'd consider, seeing that you're from cali too, would be SMOG. AEM has an approved CARB # or EO #, while Fujitsu may not have one. Tampering with emission systems in the state of California can prove to be a considerable fine and/or penalties.

This being said, you'd have to do research on the different CAI and SR brands. Different manufacturer's have different designs, some more efficient than others. Basically, you'd want to look for an intake that gets the coldest possible air with the least restriction. It's hard to say that CAI is better than SR and vice versa because they have their pros and cons.

Living in San Diegol, I decided to go with CAI. It's warm for most of the year, so heat soak is likely if i got a SR. We get 10-12 inches of rain annually--this means that I don't have to worry about sucking up water through my cone which is located near the front wheel well. For the months that it pours and floods, I switch to stock.

Just so I can sound like a broken record, there are pros and cons. Im setting up my intake system right now. I ordered the Injen MR intake, converts SR or CAI. I will be running SR. Im going ti fab me a small shield between the cone and block. To ensure fresh cold air, I have a TiTek carbon fiber intake duct to mount in bumper.

If you think you like my setup, I accidentally put 2 TiTek ducts in my cart. Im only using one so I might have the second to sell. Some locals are trying to use on M3 or miata. Dought it will work.

I know it will fit, but I don't know if you'll see any gains. I know the G guys like the 07+ y pipes as they saw gains with them

FWIW i have the Injen CAI but had iut set up as shart ram for about a month and it was a noticable difference from the stock pipe + popcharger, then i went ahead and set it up as the CAI and i could notice even more of a differnce with the CAI over the shart ram... Not just sound, felt more responsive and "powerful" i guess...
