Car: driving a yellow FC?

Post

hi guys. I am really sorry, i searched the forums but found no answer to my question. anyways. Im here in japan and thinking about buying an engine for my 240 before i go back. My 240 is a 1996 BTW.

Basically I have 2 choices. Get a S14 black head SR20DET (MT) and ship it back and drop that into my 240.

or i can get a S15 with lower mileage for a bit more cash, and swap that in.

I was planning on doing the swap myself, with some friends, atleast 1 having a good amount of knowledge about 240s. My question is, how much more difficult is dropping in a S15 engine vs dropping in a S14? What are some of the differences/difficulties of dropping in the 6 spd S15 vs the 5spd S14 engine?

Ive heard the electricals are different, but other than that i havent really been able to find any information on how much more difficult a S15 swap would be over the typical S14.

Id really appreciate it if you guys could help me out a bit on this one. Thanks a lot!

As far as I know, your going to need the driveshaft and differential(which is a plus actually if you dont already have LSD) to use the s15 sr20. Other than the wiring, I think thats the only downside to installing the motor compared to an s13 or s14 sr20. I say go for the s15 sr20 if you can get the differential and driveshaft with it
