240 sx se hatch 1989,

hey Guys,

Okay don't blow a gasket - but.....

My 240sx is a manual transmission. I love the car but am considering swapping to an automatic. I know, I know, after you all calm down, is this swap even possible?

I searched the archives and find lots of resources on the other-way swap but can't seem to find any resources on manual to auto.

And if it is possible, anyone looking for a manual transmission in the Toronto area??????

Seriously though, any advice would be very helpful.

ThanksJoannehttp://www.madhousewives.com

Yeah, it's possible. You would need the obvious cosmetic pieces in the interior, unless you want to be looking through a hole where your stick shift was. You would also need an auto ECU, wiring harness, torque convertor, auto flywheel, and obviously the auto transmission. I know you would need an auto TPS if it were an s14, but not sure about s13. You may also need an auto driveshaft if they are different lengths. Other than that you should be fine. But I'll fly down there with the parts and do the swap free of charge for your 67 stang'

Oh, and are you one of these mad housewives?

You'll also need to make sure the radiator has the openings for the at cooler up front. You'll find the lines run up to the radiator.

Hey guys,Thanks Mr Wizard!

And ya know, I would almost take you up on swapping my mustang if you throw in the work and fixing my HUD too!!! lol!

And for some reason, this is the year I also decided to replace the brakes, upgrade the suspension on the Stang etc, and realized how much cash it will all cost so then reconsidered lol. I will just keep buying the lottery tickets until then lol.

Yes, I am one of those madhousewives - it keeps gas in the cars : )

Thanks again guys. I think I am gonna go through with the swap. I would like to keep the car - it has sentimental value for me so I think I am gonna check out a transmission now and see what I can come up with.joannehttp://www.madhousewives.com

wouldn't mind taking your 5 speed parts off of you once you're done. Maybe we can just swap trannys?
