Wes - Same part no. for trunk lid, but not so for the coresponding corner taillights!
Well, I did the trunk lid swap and it wasn't as easy a job as I imagined. I had to change the two side tail lights as well to match the trunk lid of the '94 w/ the chrome edges. As it turned out, the two corner taillights are somewhat different in dimension, so I have to file away some metal in order to fit it in right. The inside wiring housing to the corner taillights are different as well. The '90-'93 Q have three light bulbs (two for bottom, one for signaling on top), while the '94 corner lights have only two (one top, one bottom). I mistakenly hooked up the connectors without looking inside first and since then the "TAIL LIGHT INOPERATIVE" warning comes on nonstop because I suspect the computer isn't detecting any current from the third bulb. I thought it was because it might not be OEM light bulbs that trigger it. But after replacing it with OEM light bulbs I recently bought from a local dealer, the warning remains on. So what I did was take the old '90-'93 light bulb housing (w/ 3 bulbs) and put it into the existing '94 corner taillight...now its back to the three light-bulb set up. The problem is, the "TAIL LIGHT INOPERATIVE" warning still stays on. Did I trigger an electric short that rendered the corner taillight sensors bad? Do I need to make a visit to a local dealership to clear the warning (if at all possible)? The damn warning light is so annoying...I can't see the odometer anymore b/c the damn warning stays on indefinitely. Any suggestions?
