swapping 04 cd changer into 03 model m45?

new forum member...just purchased 2003 m45 white...looking forward to upgrading and driving. Is the in dash 6 disc cd changer in the 04 m45 compatible with the 03 model by simply removing the 03 cassette player and plugging the 6 disc changer in its place? Has anyone ever tried this? Thanx!!

I don't think that will work. For some mysterious reason, there's more "stuff" in the casette player assembly of the 04 than just casette operations and I believe some of it may be CAN BUS related. Do a quick search on the Y34 related threads for this but I believe the unusual configuration is also the reason that the Y34 is unable to have the NAV hack done so you can have full control of the Nav system while in motion. (I'm open to correction by those who can contribute.)
