I bought a shell that had a working HUD cluster, so I decided to swap it into my 89 240sx. I cut the dash out for the HUD and installed the Cluster with the harness. When I turn the key to the on position everything works. The digital speed pops up on the cluster and hud.
Now here is the weird problem I'm having. When I turn the key off, one of the 2 green replays by the ecu starts to hummmmmmm. I take my Power probe and touch it on the orange wire and im getting some sort of weird number?!? Not even sure if its volts or random ground signal but it humms. Some times it goes off and other times it humms with the blink of the seat belt light.
When I swap from the HUD cluster back to the Analog, the issue goes away. When I swap the 2 green relays around the problem still exist. I noticed on the black plug that plug on the dash harness that plugs into the chassis harness has 2 extra wires that the analog harness doesn't have. One is a L/B and the other is a L/Purple or L/Pinkish. They both go the plug on the back of the Digital display. The issue is pretty much narrowed down to the Digital cluster but I hate to give it up. I've been working on this for about 2 months now making the dash work and all. Tell me there is something I can do
1) Is there something I'm missing when swapping out the HUD for the analog?
2)Where does them 2 wires go?
3)Should I just go back to Analog?
