What do you guys think about me swapping my Eibach 3.5SE springs for Eibach 2.5S springs.

I'm trying to achieve a softer, more comfortable ride.might even remove front sway bar just to see the effect.

I dont think it will give you the feel you are looking for, mind you im not the technical guy but id assume that you would get a much bouncier ride, not a SMOOTHer ride...

Isn't it the other way around? -Given the same load, the stiffer springs (3.5SE) travel less and rebound more aggressively than the softer springs (2.5S). -Also given the same travel distance, the stiffer spring has a higher rebound force. So the stiffness improves handling but it is a trade-off for comfort. Either way, I think both lowering springs are stiffer than both stock springs so you might not get that smooth feel you want. How are your tires doing? That effects ride quality.

Like i said, im not the technical guy... lol

My reasoning was that with a heavier load on them, they would be compressed more (probably have the car sitting lower too)... increased compression=more bounce or atleast thats what i thought!

If you went back to OEM springs it wont be dropped anymore even if its from a 2.5. I think the 2.5's actually sit higher than the 3.5's

Ya really, you have to take off the whole front subframe to get to the front sway bar. Even worse of an idea is removing it. That would create so much stess on your drive shafts, they would likely come out due to the lack of support.

Also, to put 2.5 springs on your car would make it much rougher. Those springs are designed to handle the weight of the 2.5 engine, a 3.5 engine would way on it to much, bringing it closer to the ground, rougher.

Yes, and the balance of the car would be nasty. The rear would be affected very little but the V6 would compress the front springs quite a bit. I don't think the drivability would be very good.

darn!

I don't think you are right for the front sway bar, I checked the FSM and it's a simple uninstal, no taking off the whole front subframe.

FRONT STABILIZERRemoval and Installation INFOID:0000000001345152REMOVAL1. Remove tire using power tool.2. Remove mounting nuts on upper portion of stabilizer connectingrod.3. Remove stabilizer clamp bolts.4. Remove stabilizer from the vehicle.

but anyways, I guess I'll have to wait for some coilovers with adjustable damping, or some KONI-FSD dampers *wink @ blake*

Trust me...Removing the front sway bar is a MAJOR PITA!!!!

That's why we haven't developed a front bar for the Altima.

One thing to keep in mind is that we have 2.5 cylinder Altima drop springs on the 09 Maxima and that thing rides like a cadillac.

I'll get dissed for this for sure...but I got a great ride...

On the exterior, my drop looks identical to a typical Eibach prokit drop, front and rear...but it its not your typical Eibach drop...

I have the prokit springs in the front...in the rear I left the stock springs and weighted the trunk (literally) to compress the rear springs (whihc also "lowered" the rear the equivelent of the Eibach rear spings).

Then, I removed the rear sway bar (not the front...wouldnt do that) to allow each side to operate independantly from the other...while the rear bar ties in the sides, it also makes the ride stiffer and bouncier...I really noticed very little difference with the RSB off...insignificant roll or sway increase, but much less bouncy and stiff.

This has resulted in a car that is "dropped" but a ride that is MUCH smoother yet still firm, and it hugs the road great. ANd for all who want to flame, flame on...but it handels, corners AND looks great.

While it is a very unorthodox idea, it has given me the ride that I was after with the drop I wanted. And I have now put 18,000 miles on the car, everything is still working great, not problems, from speed bumbs to cornering...low speeds or high.

no, you'd kick my butt...just my set up works great for my use is kinda the point Im making...which is really the point...

having the right setup for your specific target use...Im getting older man, want to have the best of both worlds, a lowered ride that looks good AND a less stiff and bouncy ride...this was the best way I could achieve both.

As it is I frequently drive 60 to 80 around some pretty curvey mountain roads and its held up great.

changing the tire size will help a lot say you have the stock size 215/55/17 on the stock 17in rims you could go to a 205/60/17 and keep playin around with diff. sizes untill happy but for me the stock 215/55/17 was way too soft and narrow i switched to a 235/50/17 and my spedo is still right on
