the water pump went out in my 1992 240sx cnvertible.

As per the vin# it has a KA24DE.

I WANT TO LOOK ON CAR-PARTS.COM FOR A WHOLE NEW ENGINE

So i am wondering what model years i can put into the query box and get results that will be engines that will drop right into my car provided that the transmission types are the same.

thank you very much, my cars been down since november and I finally got my refund from the IRS.

its easier to just swap out the whole engine than to remove the head and do all that stuff isn't it?

i'm not as dumb as i seem, just want a little head start of info before i start delving into the specifics of all this, i have the 90$ factory service manual...... anyway, please advise me as to interchangeable years

thank you :)

The engine never had alot of get up and go, which was fine.

it did have this weird lurch and quake then die for 1-4hrs. thing

then the water pump went out, car died, pulled over, no water.filled radiator drove home, next day after 5min. no water, overheat, so no more driving, except

filled with water drove toward mechanics shop, overheated, never started again...he replaced water pump, still no good, no start.....

i guess i'm just assuming the worst case scenario and wouldn't mind hving a different engine if it solved the problem and gve me some real acceleration juju......

will and can or , well, please tell me what years of 240sx, or other car? i can run carpart.com checks for engine on and get results that will fit in my car without altering components.

okay?

thank you for asking :)

I'm pretty sure any ka24de from a 240sx will work fine.

you are trying to be amusing?congratulations, moderately amusing...

carparts.com only has 4 fields for checkingthey are yearmodelpartlocation

ergo, the specificity which kA24DE entails is not afforded a spot in the query there.

I want to know what year 240sx's have the same motor......I did say want to know.......

this is kinda fun, thanks so far for the input

....block.... that is. If you get a engine from a 95 or later, you must reuse your intake manifold and sensors. Its best to do this w/ any motor you get that comes from other than a '92.

Thank you very very much for the information. My apologies, most sincere, to redrain for whatever I might have thought, thank you Mr. Rain.

Also great input from ultimatuc and demcj, I wanted to know a little more than nothing going into this so as not to get slick talked by mr. evilwrench or ideally, so I might be able to do alot of the work and all of the planning myself.

this is pushing my luck maybe, maybe not. I can imagine a world where people aren't all jerks and some even enjoy sharing knowlege with others, so i'm imagining that i might get even more of an impromptu education here. To get to the point where I knew what I wanted to research on my own would be cool.

so before i start disconnecting everything, just kidding, mostly...after a compression check tells me that there is none, in one or more of the cylinders, how do i find out if it's a blown head gasket or a cracked head..or worse?

I sain i knew it was alot to ask to be told, so thank you for what you've already told me and i hope to see more posts if i am lucky.

I was at a NICO meet last night and besides Holly and her husband,i was at least 10 years older then 9 out of the 10 of them and all of them most likely were from johnson county($$ area) And i should add that we left(me, holly and hubby) and went to a real gathering later in the evening. In other words....don't expect much from under 21 yoo-hoos
