Looking to swap the front seats. Found a '95 J at pick and pull with the heated seats and the condition is fantastic for the age. At 41 dollars a piece it's a no brainer but I'm not sure if the seats will fit. I hear something about the connectors being different. Any ideas? Mine's a 93 without the heat.

there are 6 or 8 nuts that hold the seat to the bottom rails. you can swap the rails and mechanism to the newer seats.

Cool, what about the electrical connectors? Do I need to monkey with those or are they the same?

the 93 dont. i have a 93 next to my house right now and the seats dont.

if you are wanting ot use the new leather of the seat you can swap them over and use the electronics from the 93 and it will plug up like normal. it is actually a bunch of little screws also that you have to pull to get the whole seat apart. there are 8 main bolts and then 16-17 small screws to get to some of those main bolts and the seat apart. i took apart mine to clean them up really good. do the passenger one first if its your DD so the drivers seat will go quicker.

The passengers I can get away with swapping the leather, but the drivers seat has gotten bad. I'll need to swap the entire thing, so thats why I was asking about the electronic connectors. And if I have to mess around with the wiring, no biggie, just not sure what to expect exactly before I go and buy them.

if i had more time at home this weekend i could pull the seat out of my 94 and compare but im about to head back to school for the week. id imagine you could swap the controllers over from the 93 and plug in the motors to the rail and seat back into them. that way you dont have to worry about the extra wiring for the heated part.

I pulled some seats out of a '94 and put them in my '97 and there were no issues mechanically. As for the seat heater, I live in the Arizona desert so even if it did work I would have never used it to find out lol. Sorry

Well, if I could get the heat, I'll take it. It'd be a little upgrade.
I live in NorCal and I go to Tahoe a lot for skiing. A butt warmer would be a very welcome addition after a long day in the slopes. It would warm up what the post skiing booze doesnt :)

I think I'll take a trip to Pick and Pull and look at the connectors and compare them to my car. I realize no one else has done what i'm attempting to do. I don't mind being a pioneer, but I do suspect the heat might be out of the question.

unless you set up a relay harness yourself and keep it on a separate switch i dont think you can get them to work very easily. there is an extra fuse on the interior fuse block and a relay under the hood in the fuse box specifically for the heated seats. you might be able to get away with making your own harness with a relay and fuse in line to run the seat heaters.

i noticed the difference when comparing a few things between my 93 and 94

I remember seeing a heated seats fuse slot in the box under the steering wheel. When I got the car my window fuses were getting blown literally every time so I've monkeyed around with the fuse box plenty. Turned out a spark plug change fixed it... beats the hell out of me, but it worked.
I'll check this one out tonight, gotta dig up that voltmeter from someplace cause I have a suspicion that while the slot for the fuse is there, there aren't any wires connected to it.

'93 and '94 connectors are the same, however they're different from the '95 to '97 model year connectors.

Maybe it was a '95 then.

For what it is worth, here is the connector out of my '97. The bottom one is for the seat and the top one is for the seatbelt sensor.

well, I did it.
got the two front seats and put them on. The connectors are exactly as the above picture. Thanks, by the way... I figured I could make it work somehow.
One of the wires is for the seat heater, the other one powers the seat adjusting motors. My car didn't have the heated seats option so it had a connector with only two wires.
My '93 seats didn't have the lumbar support, whereas these seats from the '95 do. But it works... just the same. I ended up cutting the wires from the connectors and connecting them together.

One of these days I'm going to monkey around with the heater to see if there's a way to get it to work. Curious more than anything. One possible way is to measure the voltage from both wires, I'll need a working J with factory heated seats installed... which I don't have. But I'm thinking it's possibly listed in the technical manual as well. If the voltage is the same, instead of running wires, I can put a switch that'll be used according to need, heated seats or seat adjustment.

Oh, and these seats look great! The leather is much softer and in superb condition. Either they were well taken care of, or maybe different grade leather was used between the years. This reinforced by the condition of the back seat in my 93. The leather doesn't feel the same as these 95 seats. It actually feels more fragile, somewhat cheaper.
