I would personally never listen to the advice of someone who isn't capable of spelling simple words like "YOUR" and "YOU". I especially wouldn't listen to the advice of someone who thinks an RB20 is a better motor than a VG30. But that's just me....
In Japan, the RB20DET that came in the Z31 put out 20hp less than the VG30ET. As far as drivability of a VG30ET, the motors are great. Many people are running them with 200k miles on the original motor. Some have replaced the turbos. Most have gone through a few clutches. But the only people who seem to have problems with them are the 16 year olds who try running 18+ psi. (coincidently, they also use the words "UR" and "U" )
Anyway, if you're serious about a trubo swap, there are a few things to know.- You don't HAVE to swap the whole motor. - An engine will come with what it comes with. No guarantees on the manifold.- An intercooler never came with the stock VG30ET, so if you do the whole block, you won't need it until you raise the boost.- A boost meter is essential if you ever plan on raising boost. Unless you like blowing stuff up.- You don't NEED a full exhaust, but if you keep the NA exhaust, you'll be choking the motor.- You will need the downpipe that runs from the turbo to the cat at the very least.
