Hey I'm swapping a ca18 that came out of a 240sx into my 180sx. The transmission bracket that was on the new transmission just...doesn't really seem to fit properly no matter which way I put it. Do I need a 180sx specific transmission bracket? Thanks guys.

Nope. I've used 2 different ones from my 2 CA swaps in both of my 240s (did that make sense?).

if its a manual trans w/ manual trans crossmember, it will work fine. on mine, the crossmember didn't line up with the bolt holes and i had to use a screwdriver to position it, and it works just fine. idk if this is the problem you are talking about?

I went out and tried again. There is physically no way to make this bracket fit. It doesnt line up with the bolt holes at all. Does anyone in here have a 180?

ok, if it fit in a 240sx, it WILL fit in your 180sx since 240sx, 180sx, Silvia, and European 200sx are all the same chassis it WILL fit. if not, my guess is the person switched it with an auto crossmember.

Try spinning the metal bracket 180* and see if that works.

I had the same problem when I originally did mine. I ended up having to use a torch and make the holes bigger.

i had a similar problem.

the mount plate(with the 2 holes on each side) was 180* around, and had to turn it, then i still had a problem, the motor mounts were also turned to where the alignment notches didnt line up causing the motor set to be more towards the front of the car, then i had to bench press the trans up and pul back a little while with the other hand i aligned one of the bolts and cranked it down.

I believe the problem is that I have an auto bracket, and I need a manual bracket. On the bracket it is either stamped with M or A, I have A. If someone has a manual one for sale cheap let me know please
