Welcome to the forum!! 400 horses?? Hollee crap!! That is asking way too much from a 620 without making it unstreetable.cluelessn1nja wrote:hey umm where do i start i have recently purchased a 1978 620 and i want to swap out the exsisting motor and transmission but i have zero resources to go to so im looking for any help that could get me headding in the right directioni want to swap in an sr20det but ive started to hear that the ka24de is the better of the both so im not shure what direction to go . id like a healthy 400 horses but i want it to be reliable. its gonna be a daily driver so any help would rock.
I'll refer you to the KA vs SR thread. Let's not go spouting misinformation unless you've built one. Or five.seang wrote:a ka24de has weaker pistons than a sr20det. the sr20det can EASILY and bulletproof-ly make 350 hp, all day long.
Hahaha...so true! My 620 with my modded L20b likes to slide off the line if you know what I mean. I have to take it gingerly off the line then...floor it! lolAZhitman wrote:"Streetable" is a relative term.
My Ka-T powered S13 droptop is pretty sketchy in all but perfect weather.
A pickup has horrible weight distribution and will be a tire-boiling, tailhappy monster.
The KA is a good choice and there are parts everywhere. Be careful when choosing a shop to do the work....if you can, look into doing the work your self.cluelessn1nja wrote:well ive been considering the ka24de for some time now. and i would love to do it but i dont know where to start i ve scower the interwebs and i havent come across any shops that can make the ka24de fit. id like to be able to take it somewhere that will do good work and not butcher the car. its in ok shape now for being my first car it needs some work but im will ing to take the time and money to get it fixed. any help with local shops would help. oh i live in arizona.
Reminds me of an old post in the 240sx gen where a kid wanted to buy a front clip of an r34 and a rear clip of a silvia and weld them together. He already called around and had a shop tell him they would do it.phlebmaster wrote:
