Welcome aboard!

Lots of good info here - Make sure to browse the other forums here, especially Hybrids.

You won't see 400hp out of an SR or a KA without some substantial work.

Then again, 400hp in a 620 will render it pretty much undriveable by all but the best.

In fact, if I were building it, a nice N/A DOHC KA swap with bolt-ons and some massaging would be my choice... You'd be doubling the hp, and adding a bulletproof and reliable modern drivetrain.

Welcome to the forum!! 400 horses?? Hollee crap!! That is asking way too much from a 620 without making it unstreetable.

I know you can make a L20b scream...just get the right parts. I would recommend Z22 pistons, Dual side drafts, long tube headers with a 2.5" exhaust, a moderate comp cam (have yours reground), and a 5spd.

Then you should consider your rear end....not sure what to put in there.

The best option for bolt in power is a KA.

a ka24de has weaker pistons than a sr20det. the sr20det can EASILY and bulletproof-ly make 350 hp, all day long. You will want traction bars. You have got high hopes though, so lots of money will be "invested", and never to be seen again.

I'll refer you to the KA vs SR thread. Let's not go spouting misinformation unless you've built one. Or five.

An SR will require the SAME work to make 350hp. Period.

Remember, it only made close to 200 in stock form.

You can have more than 400HP and be streetable. Check out the pics at http://www.photobucket.com/v8datsun http://www.photobucket.com/v8courier

"Streetable" is a relative term.

My Ka-T powered S13 droptop is pretty sketchy in all but perfect weather.

A pickup has horrible weight distribution and will be a tire-boiling, tailhappy monster.

Hahaha...so true! My 620 with my modded L20b likes to slide off the line if you know what I mean. I have to take it gingerly off the line then...floor it! lol

The KA is a good choice and there are parts everywhere. Be careful when choosing a shop to do the work....if you can, look into doing the work your self.

I'm in the exact same situation, a 78 620 looking for engine swap.

I was wondering if the L20 could be replaced with an L28ET easily?

Reminds me of an old post in the 240sx gen where a kid wanted to buy a front clip of an r34 and a rear clip of a silvia and weld them together. He already called around and had a shop tell him they would do it.

But yeah ask on local car forums about reputable fab shops. I know some local guys near me love doing crazy stuff, and who wouldn't want to build an SR datty.
