I have the 1.6 model with the standard factory am/fm/cd unit. I was wondering, if i was to buy the upgraded 6 cd changer version, could i just swap the old one for the upgraded version without any extra equipment?thanks

it is cool to upgrade to the factory unit... but if you plan to add aftermarket sub and amp, then i would recommend you just buy an aftermarket head unit...

I have an aftermarket sub & amp with aftermarket speakers, but using the stock 6-disc changer. It sounds decent for the most part.

I'm also using the stock HU but am using 2 10" rocksford fosgate subs and a jenson amp.

It sounds great. A LOT better than what it sounded like stock. Now all I need to do is get new speakers around the car to make it even better!

yeah rite... there isnt a high pass option for the factory units... plus aftermarket units offer up better output compared to stock head units... but if you really want one.... i know of someone local to LA that is selling a 6 disc SL model for cheap....

No, Im already using the 6 disc changer. If I get an aftermarket headunit, it will be single disc since I'm using my Ipod for playing music. But I understand what you're saying about the high output. I'm not getting the full potental out of the speakers.

i swapped out my radio with and SL radio with aux and it works great except for one thing. when i turn the dash light dimmer on it makes this buzzing noise constantly and when you turn the dimmer switch off then all noise is gone. anyone know what this could be caused by? does the versa sl radio need a bigger fuse or something. it only does it when im in auxillary mode and maybe it has to do with it being an iphone that im using. i switched the iphone into airplane mode but the sound didnt go away. any help would be great thanks!

Luckily I have an iPhone and can hopefully answer this for you..

When I am driving I basically just only use my iPod via the aux port. Sometimes when I am going to receive a call/sms my stereo will make a weird buzzing noise and them "ring" I have a phone call.. I'm guessing that it has to do with the phone signals being sent/received. I'm not 100% sure, but I think that even though you turn your iPhone into Airplane mod that it still will send/receive data which is probably whats causing the sounds...

Does it make these sounds when your iPhone is not in the car with you?

the aux makes that sound because its looking for a signal, so there is a hiss/buzz/static sound when you raise the volume or adjust the brightness of your dash lights.there was a thread about this like 2 years ago, tried finding it...

drove around with an ipod nano plugged in tonight and used the iphone and you really can't hear it once the music is playing. as long as you don't blare it the static really isn't loud. better on the ears i guess. thanks guys

Where did you buy the SL radio from? I am in confusion if i should get an aftermarket radio or get the SL one? Does the SL radio have builtin bluetooth? How much did you pay for it?
