Can someone tell me the size of the OEM water temp gauge? Is it possible to swap it out with some kind of aftermarket more accurate one, or do you have to stick with some kind of pod installation?

Thanks everyone.

You would have to use a pod for that. You have about 2" deep behind the face of the gauge, then behind that is all electronic wiring, board, and stuff.

How accurate are you looking? Just do not let it get close to the red zone and you will be ok. Its fairly accurate as long as the actual sensor is working correctly.

Another way to know accurate temp readings is through a ECU tuning setup readout, such as my Apexipower FC has. I can see the engine temp accurately fluctuate from all actions such as turbo use, long idling in traffic, etc. I assume other higher-end EMS's also have that function available...I leave mine showing me temp and knock.
