Holy crap so I just swapped back from an SR S13 to a KA S14. Well the guy I got it from said it was a new motor... it's not... clearly not. So I need some help can anyone tell all the things to check that normally you wouldn't check it pinging and the chain guide plate on the front part of the block has been removed also it is idle bombing unless its in gear. It has a Cali Emissions ECU but it has had them removed from the car when I put a new intake manifold on it be the IACV was sticking and it reved strait to 7000rpm now thats fixed but it's still not idling right please help ill put up some pics soon.

WEll that timing chain guide is almost always removed.Nissan even says it's unnecessary... sometimes in will rattle and sound like ****e.

check your grounds. my idle was messed up and I got a new neg. cable and that fixed my problems.check the one on the back of the alt. too.

ok idle is fixed but the constant knocking is still scaring me its bringing back memories of when the last one went so i'm wondering if this the motors natural knock or the death knock if i take a video can anyone decipher it?

take a video for us.and I'm having a similar problem now.it SUCKS.

I suspect my timing is way off, but I don't see how it got like that.I mean WAY off.I suggest you check your timing carefully too...

but they do not knock like this naturally... mine never has up until now.so yea get that vid! I'll take a video of mine too and we can compare.LOL
