OK, I've been looking for a 91-93 to do my swap, because I hear it is a lot easier. What are the set backs to doing a swap into a 89-90. The reason I ask is because someone I know is offering me a 90 for $500. Which is hard to find around here. So, Please list the set backs, and what it takes to get around them.Thanx,:ylsuper

I has no setbacks besides looking for parts to replace the older 89-90 parts, because either they are incompatible or just in the way. Here is a list that I can think of off the top of my head on what you need.

91-93' gauge cluster.91-93' Powersteering system (whole thing) or custom mount your old one.

As for A/C you will need to have a custom bracket made for your KA24 compressor(not too hard, a metal shop would do it for you for a low price).

That's all I can think of besides the fact that the 89-90's have a slightly shorter driveshaft, but Phase2 says you can still use it.

the gauge cluster will be an issue. The ac should be of no concerne unless you live somewhere where it gets extremely hot. Power steering is more of a preference issue. If you like the loss of weight and can drive you car with a little more umph from your meat pistons, then thats the way to go. Or you could just buy a civic and run 13.5 for the rest of your life, lol. Just giving you a little ****. Good luck tuning your sr.

Buy front clip... problem solved. Only thing you need to worry about is heater hoses, radiator, use the JDM tach, probably forgetting something.

My 89, has caps over the holes where the power steering resevoir should be on the drivers side. I laughed when I saw that.

front clip is cheaper and less time then running around a junkyard sourcing parts, its all in the clip.

Ha, no, thank god. Just get the SR20 clip, everything that you need for your swap will be in that engine bay, minus some very, very minor things like hose elbows and such for the heater hoses.

so if i get a front clip from heavy throttle. I can do a swap into an 89-90, with no problem.... This is including power steering, a/c, and all of the above? and will a cluster from a 91-94 plug right in to the 89-90?THanx,

Yes.

Wiring still applies.

I think people who do the swap consider the wiring as the toughest part.

Will the JDM gauge cluster work with the swap. Both the regular and the digital? Thanx guys.
