i'm sorry. i forgot to mention that i will be spending extra on a manual boost controller with two preset settings (high and low obviously), an ACT street clutch package, and a walbro fuel pump. i might put in for a gauge package as well. is $5,600 typical for just the install plus the FMIC? i figure it will run just above $6,000 for everything. what do you guys think? :helpeniety wrote:It sounds like too much money for a stock install. There is no point of spending a bunch of money on a FMIC if you are going to be stock. You will be running stock boost (7psi), right? So, I would say go with the stock SMIC.
argh...looks like i'll have to go over the details when i actually put a deposit down. i think the basic package includes a turboXS BOV (forget what type, but it's basic). i wanted to add the difference to a better, more obnoxiously loud type. but it's not a big deal to me. actually all those things mentioned should be included except the exhaust. my guy told me that i should do that on my own since i might find a better deal on the internet/groupdeal. i might lean towards the single N1, but might go for the GTspec (maybe a little overkill and both might scrape anyway). if anyone here has anymore advice to give me it would be highly appreciated. i'm not new to nissan, but i'm totally new to the S13 and i don't have the time or skill to work on it myself like some of you. i put in my time at work and pay someone else to do the install. i have experience to install my own exhaust, shifter, suspension, but i won't open an engine, turbo or use a cherrypicker. i'd like to learn from people who have already done it. so is $5,600 still looking good for the basics? it will definately cost over 6k for some upgrades that i consider a necessity. do you guys think an aftermarket radiator or electric fans to be essential? thanks a lot for info.eniety wrote:Actually, $5600 sounds right. Maybe a little high, but not much. An ACT street clutch, walbro 255 fuel pump, and manual boost controller will put you a little over $6000. You also need an intake filter, and downpipe. No BOV? No cat-back?

i'm still wondering how you can get one in with a FMIC for $4,500. there must be a catch besides driving all the way to the place. anyway, i think my maxima will be faster than the S13 initially. i run low 14's consistently. the guy doing my swap has a lot of mods and still has to break into 13's on street tires. i can drive the 97 maxima in my sleep and run 14.1-.3.skatanic28 wrote:hey vqdriver, im moving up from a maxima too:)
heavy throttle is looking good for the swap once i can actually afford it, probably not til next summer though.quick question, can you keep the old motor and transmission?or better yet, take it out yourself and make the labor a bit cheaper?
