Swap-ability of window regulators/motors

Hey, so I bought an 01 maxima SE a few weeks ago and the only thing left to fix on it is the regulator/motor on the front driver's side window. I went to a Pull-a-Part junkyard today and the only intact regulator i could find was from a 99 Altima. I went ahead and pulled it & bought it. There was also a 96 maxima with an intact reg but the driver's door wouldn't open.

At any rate, I got home and hopped on the internet, and while I couldn't find any explicit answer to the question, I sort of got the sense that they may not be compatible after all. Just curious if anybody out there knows if a 99 altima's reg would fit and work in an 01 maxima, and also whether 4th gen. maxima reg/motor would be compatible with 5th gen? Thanks.

Nope, they are different.
