Greetings to Q experts.

After chewing up the inside of two new tires, in a very short period of time, I decided to go get the 94Q45T aligned. Dealer quoted $125, which seemed ok.

Got there and they looked at it and said I should replace the upper links, and also the bushings on the stabilizer bars were dried. (Heck, after 69,000 miles, everything's dried.)

Question is, how difficult is it to replace the upper links/stabilizer bars (or just bushings)? Do I need any special tools or lifts? or jack stands?

They quoted me $1100, which included the alignement, so around 975 for the remedial work. Seems like a big price--looks like I could get the parts from Scottsdale for about 200-400, depending on whether I just did the bushings on the rod. {I sure couldn't tell by looking at or pushing on the upper link that there was anything wrong with it.}

Oopsie, wrong forum but I'll reply. It's all relatively easy. For $975 you can buy all the tools you need and still have quite a bit of cash left over. When you say "stabilizer bars" you mean tension rod? Or sway bar? Tension rod is more likely...bushing for those is about $15 each. The links are about $100 each. They deform and harden; you'll never know they're bad without removing them and inspecting them. You *will* need jack stands. Don't ever get under a car supported only by a jack.
