I'm looking into buying some coilovers and im not sure what i should go for. I have had personal experience with the tein flex, but have been recently told about a company that i know nothing about, D2. I have a 93 s13 and I'm just wondering what you's have to say. Thanks for your help

You know, from the looks of it, the SPL kit looks very very nice, but their experience on coilovers is very very new it seems. If they have in deed been around for a while, my bad, I just recently heard them.

For the D2's my friend has a set of those. They don't seem to have a good rebound lenght. When jacking up his vehicle, the wheels hardly travel downwards, making the ride a little bumpy when you hit roads that require some rebound. I have the Flex kit and it's so much better then the D2's by a long shot. I'm not saying that the D2's is a bad coilover, they are great also, but compared to a company who's been in the game for a while, it just don't compete. Teins are very streetable, where as, JIC's, Apexi, HKS, etc dampers are for pure track and would be incredibly rough on the streets. Some people may say otherwise, but mainly because they either got used to the stiffness or never really cared for ride quality.

Just FYI, we ran our Z32 with the SPL coilovers months before we sold them. We also have dyno testing of our shocks up on the website, something you will find on very very few websites within the 240SX market. With the SPL coilovers you can get a greater idea of what you are buying before you buy it.

As far as sampling, there are easily about 40 cars out there running our coilovers and so far no major problems have arisen. We had one incident of premature rusting, and one incident involving a seized adjustment knob, and in both cases we replaced their defective units with new ones free of charge.

These coilovers have also been out in Japan long before we decided to sell them.

That's a pretty biased statement... I've ridden in numerous different setups from Tein HA, HE, RA to JIC FLT-A2s, SA-1's, Apexi N1 Pros, etc. etc. etc. and overall there are a few things that lend differences to ride quality.

The Tein Flex that you have on your car now are an Americanized damper. They have softer valving (read: less rebound/compression force) for our crappy roads. If you've ever ridden in a car with an older style of Tein like the HE or HA you can feel a difference.

Just because something is softer doesn't make it better either. Ride quality is a personal preference.

Yeah, you can say it's pretty biased, Nismo_Freak, but that's my opinion and no way is it the truth and a standard to be acknowledge by everyone. The Flex does handle the road conditions a lot better.

As a matter of fact, I was planning on getting a set of SPL coilovers myself, the shock dyno test sure does show how good it is. Unfortunately, the SPL's came out a couple months after I got my Flex's. I'm just saying that SPL is just kinda new, not refering to because they are new, they suck.
