Hello ,
I was wondering if you guys/Gals have changed the suspension on the M series. Currently, I have 2012 M37 with about 63K miles . I have the 2018 Coupe 19x 9 black rims on 255/40/19 tires. It is bit stiff.

I was thing about buying these below - any suggestions is welcomed including changing/upgrading other related parts. I am not looking to lowering it- just hate it.

Thanks

You need to explain in a bit more detail what you hate about the stock suspension.

I have K Sport coilovers in my AWD M35 and the ride is rough and it can be bouncy at times (the roads in my city are trash because of our harsh winters). However the quality is good, they've held up for 3 years in -30°F winters. With coilovers, you are not going to get that soft OEM feel. Some ppl claim that if you change the coilover springs to Swift springs and that should soften the ride, but I cannot comment on that.

For my AWD M56, I recently purchased a set of Eibach springs. I chose these for two reasons, price and the fact that I don't need to go extremely low, I just want to reduce the gap to about 2 fingers between tire and fender. I've used Eibach twice before and the drop they say on the box was far LESS than I actually got when it settled. If those don't work, I may go to RSR.

But back to you, you need to describe exactly what you're looking for in a bit more detail....

I was looking for something in terms of a bit softer ride on everyday driving and good at cornering as well. Something on a sports type. Thanks for your response.

No offense, but that's an oxymoron dream for an aftermarket conventional system. You can't have soft and sporty on an aftermarket coilover setup unless you spend big bucks for someone to develop an active suspension system. If that's even possible. Maybe look into bags. You can inflate and deflate them, but it's not going to be instantaneous.

And i can vouch the the swift springs on bc coils aren't soft either

Maybe , I did not explain it well . Then what's the purpose of aftermarket ones. Isn't the link I posted above an upgrade over stocks ones. By sporty - meaning good at cornering . I came from owning multiple Acura's, their suspension , hands down better then Infiniti.

yea, you didn't explain it well at all. You can't have soft and sporty. You'll need to pick one or the other. The only thing you could probably do is upgrade to the sports model suspension with the bigger sway bars.

Get a set of lowering springs, that'll will help with body roll/center of gravity a little and still leave you with a softer ride compared to adjustable coilovers. Then upgrade what you can - Sway bar bushings (Greasable ones from Energy Suspension), 3 piece adjustable arm set for the rear and adjustable upper arms for up front and you'll be "all set". You can do more, but I doubt it's necessary if you don't track the car.

Note - this car can share a lot of suspension components from a g37 or q50 - you'll just need to do a bit of research to find out what can fit.

I just got SCALE Coilovers for my M56. I asked for a softer ride than the Sport Springs because I did not like how bouncy the suspension was. Just a little too firm for my liking in a luxury car.

So I called SCALE and they told me to order the comfort version and add springs 12 front and 7 rear. I ordered this with the swift spring upgrade and all stainless hardware. They said they change the valving for the comfort version too.

I plan on installing these when my car gets back from PPE Engineering later this month/June. I'll keep you posted on how it rides compared to stock.

SCALE is great. I went the other direction of low version and higher spring rate 16/10. Simon was who helped me out.

Sporty mean stiff, which is on the other side of the spectrum from soft, which is all in the springs. Coilovers are not inherently stiffer than strut/coil springs, it's all in spring rate, but unfortunately most companies won't publish their numbers.

One thing that might work for you is keep stock springs but get a high quality shock/strut like bilstein, koni, penske, but I don't know who if any make a direct replacement. This will keep the stock "softness" but better control over wheel movement for better handling. Also upgrade sway bars which wich will also help cornering but not affect ride.
