Hi all!

I’d like to pick your brains and experiences on sway bar upgrades for a 100% stock ’93 240SX Fastback (automatic transmission). I have ordered Whiteline strut tower braces. They have not been received yet. My goal is to reduce body roll. In addition to the tower braces and swaybars, I do plan on upgrading coilovers. The ride quality is not that important. I like to stick to the road and experience little body roll.

Which swaybays would you go with:
Tanabe (~$460) F: 30.4mm R: 27.5mm (bigger than the rest)
Suspension Techiques ($379) F: 1-1/16” R: 13/16”
Whiteline: (~$450) F: 27mm R: 20 or 22mm
Addco 197/489 (~$420) F: 1-1/8” R: 7/8”

(If I left any out please let me know)

I’ve used ADDCO of my TR4 and TR6. I like buying matched sets. The whiteline 20mm vs 22mm on the rear makes me wonder which one best matches the 27mm on the front with a stock car?

Which brand of coilovers do you guys consider best?

I’ve owned 2 of the great handling little cars but have done little to upgrade them. I’d like to spend a little time/money get the handling even better.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
TIA!

Tim

I'm currently running the Suspension Techniques F/R set on my S13. Massive reduction in body roll over stock. Still "soft" enough to allow a little roll. Dunno how they compare to others, but I'm pleased with mine FWIW.

If you lose too much body roll you will actually have less traction. The sway bars act as a spring. When you turn the bar presses down on the outside wheel giving it the effect of more weight on the wheel. Too much stiffness and it won't do its job resulting in decressed traction. Thats why a lot of drifters run such a high rate spring to lose body roll. With body roll you have spring back which can actually make it harder to hold a drift you want just the right spring back when you cone out of the corner to plant both wheels back firmly into the road too much and its gonna push you the other way to little and you'll pull the other way. If I were you I would run a decent amount bigger then stock in back and a little closer to stock in front.

Another thing to remember that with too stiff of a rear sway you will have more over steer "drift" too stiff of front you'll have understeer "you'll turn the wheel the car will continue going straight"

For your application and what your trying to achieve ibwould go susp tech or whiteline.

Tanable would do more damage then good for what your looking for.
