I am curious, how do these two brands compare? i notice that tanabe uses helper springs, what are the main funtions of these? and in terms of comparing coilovers, if you have have two different brands but have the same spring reates and dampening levels, wont they perform exactly the same any way?

what would you guys recommend for high quality coilovers? for daily driving i dont mind too much, i will probably set the dampening levels lower, but i need something that can absorb bumpy roads like mountain passes but still be great for track.

what do u guys think??

the helper springs on the Tanabe coilover set ups are there to absorb small bumps like while driving on the streets.

However the helper spring can fully compress til the coils touch each other because they have a very soft spring rate (this is not an accident). when this happens it will in turn set up the coilovers to just only use the spring rate of the main spring which is much harder than the helper spring alone and is somewhat harder than the combo of helper AND main spring.

So basically its good for the streets and good for the track.
