I just got my Espiler springs and asked my mechanic about installing them. He then told me $450 maybe less. I spoke to one of my boys who is into cars and he said that it may not be too bad because of the labor involved in it. He said that the rear spring may be hard to change because he may have to take the rear seats out.
Basically my questions are A: how hard is it to go ahead and change them; B: what does something like that normally cost; C: if I wanted to go elsewhere, would anyone be able to recommend a place in NYC area ??

That's a lot honestly. The rear is simple. $175-$300 is typical going rate for these cars. I charge $200 at my shop for an M, Z, G, etc.

Find a performance shop...not a mechanic. Mechanics charge book rate (flat rate).

Yea I'm sure he'll come down on it. I never pay full price for anything in his shop so I'm not worried.
Chris, how long does it normally take you and also, are there any set back or negatives I would need to be aware of ? Also, how far in penn are you ? If the drive isn't too bad, perhaps I'd take a trip.

for the rears you don't have to take the rear seats out? the spring and the shocks/strut are not one piece in the rears. so it takes 10-15 minutes to swap it out..

^the shocks bolt in from the wheelwell in the back. its literally 2 12mm bolts and 1 17mm bolt to the spring perch. rears take 5 minutes each. fronts are bit more involving but still very simple

probably too high priced IMO.. especially since if you look at teh DIY on here the rears are about 30 mins each .

fronts probably like an hr / 1.50 ?

so if its gonna take 4 hrs hes charging u like a buck 10 an hr thats nuts labor rate for non-dealer

Nah I will never pay that much. Once I allow him to see that it's not as much work as he thought it may be, the price will drop to $200 or so.
