Saw some grease spots on the garage floor on the drivers side. The leak is coming from the bushing in this part:

The rod itself just looks like a piece of metal. I see I can buy just the bushing that appears to insert into the round end of the strut rod:

Has anybody done this job? Looks like a bolt on / bot off part.

Does the bushing just push out from the end of the strut rod or is it pressed in there like a bearing?

I don't see any reason to buy the whole strut rod if I can just replace the leaking bushing but I want to make sure I can just push out the bushing.

yes you can, and yes, I did exactly that with the help of old member Daedalus. Note that on the FGY33, the right and left tension rods are unique, whereas on the G50, they interchange (until the rubber sets). the actual bushings can be used on either right or left side. they press out/in with a large hydraulic press.
The part number for your "pucks" is 54476-6p002.
Pay attention to the rubber casting arrow on the puck, and note the direction (is the arrow on your old ones pointing in tension or compression when the car is rolling forward)?
Also note that the bushings may be slightly ''proud' on one side or the other relative to the housing, and have the shop replicate this.

Thanks Jay. Just what I wanted to hear. I made the seller an offer on the ebay listing for bushing only.

What is a reasonable price to pay for a shop to do the hydraulic press bearing exchange?

Did you have any issues removing the tension rods?

TIP :I believe you gotta do the final tork , being completely limp loose on the bushing end @ frame until car is lowered ,3/4 tank gas best, tires straight - then fully tighten the big bushing bolt so threre is NO distortion to rubber @ normal / "neutral" curb height , for I've done all the above, pressing , line-up etc. on my J30 16 years ago :chuckle:
