hello everyone! i have very little experience with the s13 suspension and i have some questions regarding the restoration process of it. recently i pulled out of my house and the tie rod out of no where sheared off! i realized what would of happened if the tie rod went bad on the freeway! so since then ive decided to replace most of the suspension components, but i do not know where to start. ive recently bought new TIEN tie rods to replace the ones that broke and i also have new tension rods. are there any other components you guys would suggest in terms of reliability and performance for the car? thanks for help guys!

Rear upper control arms and tension control rods.

once you do one thing, the rest of the parts sustain more tension because new parts are tighter and cause old parts to strain more. Just do it all.

My suggestion: bushings first. if you've an s13 and never fiddled or replaced any of the bushings, I can assure you they're most likely blown.

A couple of builds depending on modifications to your car. This is also taking into consideration your tie rods and tension rods.

stock: bushings, inner and outer tie rods, lower control arms for both front and rear (front are more consistently bad though at the ball joint), your stock struts are probably blown (look into stock replacements like tokico blues or kyb gr-2's), and the tie rod boots.

lowered: Depending on how severe your drop is, you may want to consider rear upper control arms and toe links for the rear, bushings, sub-frame bushings or spacers, again tie rod boots, both front and rear ball joints, struts with newer struts made a little more resilient (kyb agx, koni yellows) or budget permitting coilovers.

hey sr20essex, in one of your posts from another topic, you mentioned about using motorcycle chain lube to lubricate your suspension components. where would lube to keep it from squeaking and wear and tear?
