If you have the money go with some coilovers, I'm sure there are plenty of posts with recommendations. If your just learning to drift might I suggest a spring and shock combo. You could use the extra money for tires or an LSD. = P

I have KYB agx's and eibach sportline springs. When the shocks are set to backbreaking stiff the car doesn't like to go straight if I'm pushing the gas. It might take more with no LSD but my automatic slides quite nicely on dry pavement. A little too easily in the rain (when and if california ever sees it). The lightest setting is also nice for daily driveability too.

I've been in a car with the Tein Type Flex and they were a little stiff on the softest setting for my tastes but I drive 80 miles to work everyday round trip so I need a near stock ride.

yeah i personally like my catalyic converter (usually the part in the car lowest to the ground) 3 inches off the ground. I get better turning it seems. and WAY less jerk when turning. so KYB AGX's are not height adjustable. so if you have 750$ to throw down on a coilover system I think Tein HE's are abotu 750$.. and are pretty nice with a 1 year waranty i beleive .. but KYB and Tockico both have lifetime warantee's which tend to be rather nice if you blow your struts/shocks.

for 1000 bucks? get nismo power brace, strut tower bars, tension rods, tie rod ends, and adjustable rear upper arms. then get a vlsd, and some good brake pads, and a spring shock combo.

then as you get better get coilovers and a good lsd. you can always sell the spring/chock combo, and vlsd later on.

i've got a 92' 5spd. i would suggest that you get an lsd asap because i know how it feels to throw your car into a corner and it starts to drift and then one tire gets loose and dissapointment falls in.

uh huh. fix what's broken first. aka bushings, blown shocks, torn boots, worn ball joints, busted tie rods, an alignment and so on. If you've got 1k on suspension, it's not gonna be enough for everything. You might want to consider getting something basic like some GR-2's with your oem springs till everything else is up to snuff as parts get real expensive real fast.

GR-2's are ok to go with, but they are really a good stock replacement.

I have them with stock springs on mine.. Ayways....They act "funny" for me. In my parking lot at my apt, if I go slow over the speed bumps, my exhaust will scrape. If I speed it up a bit, no scrape. Don't know if it's just me or not, but they don't seem, in my opinion, to be a good drift start. I would go with the AGX's to get the drift start.
