since i cant afford $1300 for coilovers... is there a company that makes springs in the 500lb/400lb range? im thinking that hard springs like this combigned with some type of adjustable struts will yield BASICALLY the same thing as say Tein super drifts minus the ride height adjustablity..... can "normal" struts( think kyb adjustable.. or tokiko illuminas.. whatever) handle that high of a spring rate?? and if so where can i find some springs? all the springs i find are closer to the 200lb range

thanks a lot!!

not all coilover set-ups cost that much. If you look around in the classifides you may be able to fine some in the 600-700 dollar range. I found a brand new set of K-Sports in there for $650 shipped.

K-Sports/D2 coilovers are very nice and inexpensive if you would rather have the height adjustability without the outrageous price tag.

Just thought id throw that out there. sorry i couldnt help with the springs.

the most important thing is WHY do you want those spring rates? What are you going to be doing w/ it?

A "nice" setup could be kyb agx + sportlines, or koni yellows + sportlines or rsr springs. Those are about half your spring rate asking, but are track proven by many members on this and other boards, as well as relatively affordable. 500-700 range. Also most "practical" & streetable.

There are affordable coilovers. K-sports are ok, not the best, but pretty good bang for your buck. 600-800 range depending on where & when you buy.

Megan Racing Coilovers are a little more expensive - in the 850-900 range, highly reviewed on this board & zilvia - very nice coilovers.

KTS coilovers are very good also, some like these better than the megans - super adjustability and all - 1000 range.

D2 Coilovers are crap, and from what I've seen the KSports aren't far behind.

You pay for what you get in this industry, there is no free lunch.

You will annihilate any adjustable shock but a Koni Yellow that has been revalved with a 500# spring.

500# spring is too high of a rate anyway, move down to a 350# spring for street usage.
