Im running 18'' rims on this Q. I just put on some michellin pilot sports 245 45s... I had bad tire chop on the insides of the last pair....now on the way home from work today I noticed some slight steering wheel wobbles accelerating up the on ramp??? Im taking it in for a alignment this weekend I thought I had a bad belt in one of the front tires.so new tires. theres no vibrations or serious shakes or swerves...the cars got 191k on it with good maint. history. when I changed the tires the struts didnt look good at all.... I dont know anything about front ends...what can I visably check for that could be the problem?????

Upper links and tension rod bushings are the primary wear components.

At your car's age, look at everything rubber including the steering rack bushings. Ball joints may be suspect also, and even lower links. A good front end shop should be able to tell you.

Amother alignment is a waste of $60. Wait until you get the upper links and tension rod bushings on.

Spend it on new upper links (If you plan on lowering the car, but the adjustable upper links).

Buy the tension rod bushings or whole new tension rods.

Then, when you get these replaced, have the alignment done, and tell the guy to set the toe-in to the minimum the book says is acceptible. This will help with inside tire wear.

The Pilot Sprots are a great tire, and should not feather as bad as cheap tires, but it sure hurts when you spend that kind of money on rubber, to see it eaten up in 10,000 miles...

Be sure to have the kingpins, their bearings, seats, and the third link checked for play..........................there should be zero!

Worn upper links eventually lead to worn kingpins.

191k is when every thing needs replacing.

I never knew that I needed upper links until I had brought my car in for an alignment. That's when I found out they needed to be replaced and so I ordered the parts and then got it done all at the same time.

I had the same problem on my 97Q.I had Bridgestone Potenzas (18'') and all tires looked great upon a brief inspection, but when I took off the front drivers side the inside of the tire had a 1/4''x1/4'' deep trench worn in it. At the time I decided to replace the rims and tires with Falkens (18'') and they have lasted me about 3 years without duplicating the problem.

I am in the process of redoing the front end which includes Eibach springs (which I purchased from Audiovisiony33), & KYB SR Specials. My mechanic also recommended:

Sway bar bushings, upper strut mount, and stabilizer links. Does this sound like enough or should I be replacing more? I want this car driving like new but there seems no end to the parts replaced and money spent.
