What's the best bang for the buck as far suspension up-grades go?

Don't know about the newer chassis, but Powertrix is THE name for the Z32. They've got awesome build quality, and the price is awesome. They also do Z33/Z34.

the kinetix setup for the control arms is one of the best on the market outside of spl, other then that depending on miles replace bushings and get stiffer sway bars. bushings that arnt worn to hell and sway bars is where 90% of your suspension benefit will come from, can do entry level coilovers like kw v1 but most people arnt capable enough to reach the limit of the stock components. stay away from the stance, raceland, bc, ect coilovers if you actually care about handling they are junk. tires are huge for handling as well, better tires will account for more then an entire suspension setup.

That's cause they're relatively new for the Z33/Z34 chassis, but they've been around the block for the Z32 (Charles owns the world record setting 1/4 mile stock engine/turbos run. It lifts the front wheels.) I have the Ultra Lites on my TT though, and the build quality is awesome. Way less bounce than any other coil I've driven, and I honestly scared myself the first hard corner I took, just cause there was no hesitation and an insane amount of grip. I'd definitely recommend them based on build quality alone though.

Also, Edgar (Articdragon192) runs them on his driftmobile. He's been through all kinds of suspension setups, and he says Powertrix is by far his favorite.

Thanks, I would like to keep the budget around $1,500. The use is mountain roads, I live in the Sierra foothills and drive the car only for fun. it has 42,000 miles so the stock bushings should be okay. Tires are Sumitomo, rims are Raze, both are an 1" wider than original. I've put a borla dual exhaust and a K&N Cold Air Intake on it as well. What about a chip? there's one advertised on this site for $69 bucks!

Never, you'll run into a ton of problems. If you want a tune I'd suggest UpRev's Osiris package.

As far as suspension, you're a little under budget for the coilover I'd recommend either Bilstein PSS 9's or 10's. You could go with a lower end KW (V1's), but the V3's are far better allowing adjustments for both compression and rebound - but then they'll be out of your $1500 range.

Sways are always a good choice, make sure you get something that's adjustable - I posted about some different ones a few weeks ago, it should show up in a search. You might consider doing something to shore up the big weakness inherent in convertibles - frame rigidity. Maybe something from GT Spec. Circuit Sports also makes some bracing that you can check out, AZHitman used them on his G35 coupe way back when and put up an article - G35C Circuit Sports under braces, they're pretty inexpensive as well - as far as bracing goes. Stillen also makes some stuff that all complements all the other pieces. If you're looking for an extensive set of bracing I'd look at the stuff from GT Spec and Stillen.
