I have a 97' 240sx and got some Stance Gr+ coilovers a month or two ago. Ever since we put them on there has been a knocking sound that comes from the rear. i cant tell exactly where but it sounds like the driver side. at first i thought it was the exhaust then we dilly daddled with that and it still hasnt stopped. could it be the subframe, a blown coilover, etc? i love the ride and everything about the coilovers EXCEPT the knocking. plz help all input welcome except for off topic

i had the same problem and the same coilovers and for only bout as long as you to...its either your pillow ball mounts/camber plates (the top of the rear coilovers) are not the correct specs so they are making the knocking noise, or it could be that u have a blown strut in which oil would be leaking from the coilover...call the place where you bought them from and they will probably give you the # to stance manufacturing. Stance has good customer service so tell them what up and they will replace at no charge...good service but bad products it would seem. They are pretty stiff when i drift though

When does the sound come about? If you could give a little more info.

I had the same problem after I upgraded the rear suspension arms.I got under the car and lubricated the pillow ball ends with some lubricant and that did the trick. If you upgraded them you might want to check that out since it stiffens the suspension.

i've had the same issue with my megans, back in the days, i think i've made a thread on it and probably is in the achieve. From what i've read was that the problem came from the camber plate bearing...obviously i did not fix the problem and instead just sold the damn coilovers for some tein flex. Anyways, i've read on some other foroums that stance would do a free exchange from the warrenty

I just came across a similar problem on the passenger side of my 95 240. There was a knocking sound I assumed was coming from the suspension. It happened more over bumps and less when I was accelerating. The speed of the knocking didn't seem to coincide with vehicle speed. I have lowering springs on stock struts, 17" wheels with bolt on HR spacers, new energy bushings, and RUCA's. What was really strange is that the event I attribute to the start of the knocking was using my e-brake to stop at a stop sign. I forgot to pump the brakes up after some work I did earlier. I inspected everything obvious, but what I found after hours of looking made me laugh. There are these dynamic dampers that are basically a chunk of metal suspended in a u-channel by rubber. They act to dampen vibration in the suspension. My passenger side damper was torn and the chunk of metal was knocking against the wheel well. I never suspected, nor ever new it existed before this!!

sounds like your wheel coming off the ground for split second and slamming to the road. I have this issue. seems like you're running on some lots of pre load. I still have to re adjust and reset my coils when the weather is warmer to confirm on this. sounds like your car is doing the same as mine on the rear end section. have ran like this for 3 months and have not blown my coils by the way. I am using KTS coils if you are wondering.

for now, my suspension travel is very little because of the pre load, so when I jack my car up, the suspension barely drops at all.
