I got a 2006 M35X with 101K miles and there is this sound which is bugging me like no tomorrow. Whenever I go through a pothole or bump there is some sound which comes from the left side. I got the car checked and stabilizer links, ball joints, struts, sway bars and other components look fine. When the mechanic drove it he said it might be sway bar bushings since the noise is coming from the middle. Has anyone else experienced the same problem? Also, should I change all 4 stabilizer links while I get the car done?

Edit to add: The car does not swerve anywhere but when I got my car a few months ago one tire had some wear from the inside which the previous owner said was due to alignment and he had it done at the dealership. I have all maintenance records

Quite possibly it is the Struts and/or the Upper Strut bearings - mine are clunking etc...and need replacement..I'm just waiting.....considering coilovers...etc. Best of luck in you diagnosis.

Having a mechanic say "it might be" is not an assessment - to say something needs changed should be looked at..to see if there is excessive play - (reference your swaybar links etc.)

Now you say "noise" but can you be more specific? What sort of noise?

It sounds like something from the middle in the left front. I was thinking it was a strut mount cause it sounded like that. Its an annoying small thud noise when the left front wheel goes in a pothole.

Yea that noise would lead me to a similar conclusion (despite the fact that I can't hear it well through my computer screen ) Hopefully replacing that will correct your issue!!

Changed the following and the noise is GONE!!! Sway Bar bushings to stop the noise, stabilizer links for the heck of it. Since the car had 102K miles, I also flushed the trans, differential fluid (it looked new), new plugs and the difference is night and day. The old plugs were completely worn out. Acceleration has improved leading me to a lead foot . Now got to reduce the low speed growl while acceleration. I like my cars quieter
