After 3 weeks of searching this site to find an answer I couldn't.., someone please HELP!
=> THE SITUATION: I lowered my coupe 1-1/2 yrs ago. Recently (1mo) I have a hissing noise in my right front strut, it sounds normal as if compressing and extending when going over bumps however, it is the only one that can be heard very loud and clearly (even on little bumps). I looked the whole assembly over and tugged on a few bolts, there was nothing obviously loose. Now I have a slight shake in the steering wheel when applying the breaks (as if they needing grinding). The ride is a bit stiff as it was new and with lowering springs, no obvious "boat" motion here as if strut is leaking or gone bad. I replaced the strut mount awhile back because I stripped a bolt in it so that is new. It does not pull to any side, I had a very good alignment done when I installed the lowering springs and still drives straight. It has camber adjustment bolts too. At this point there is no odd wear on the tire either. I can push down on the right fender area(under the hood) and can make the car move up and down and hear the hiss noise. I can move the left side with no hiss noise and they both feel equally firm. Oh, and yes, I made sure all bolts on the upper strut were tight and they were (it has tower brace). Steering is firm with a slight softy feel as normal for the Altima.
=> THE QUESTION: does anyone have the same symptoms with any resolution? OR Does any one have suggestions?
=> MY RESOLUTION: What I plan on doing is to buy new struts for the front NOT Nissan Struts (because I read some post with persistent Nissan Strut issues) So, before I go through the whole replacement, I am seeking knowledge...! Thanks for your help.

I am guessing you kept your OEM struts even though you lowered your car? That would be your first mistake. Dropping your car down even a few inches puts a lot of stress on the OEM struts and shocks. You would have been better purchasing coilovers. You could have also purchased separate shocks, struts and springs. If you ever want to lower your car, your usually better off purchasing performance suspension parts.

Thanks for the info. I will agree with you however, I am going by experience of three other cars I lowered, though not a Nissan, I never faced such a issue, especially with the strut problems some on this site had, Thaanks again for the info good advise, I was thinking of the same thing.
