I installed Tokico Shocks/Struts and Tein Springs in my S13 but when I turn the steering wheel left or right there a popping noise like its rubbing against somthing. I found out that the plate thats holding down the springs was rubbing against the side panel. I took them out and reinstaled them again but no luck. Plz Help??????????

plate holding down the springs?

the lower perch? or upper mount?

neither of those should be anywhere close to rubbing on anything.

the plate on top of the springs probably isnt aligned right. i had the same thing happen before. there is a little tri-angle cut out that should face toward the engine. use the lock tab ring thing on top to keep it in place

That is the cut-out, and if you are facing the car they should each be facing toward the engine. So...the one on the driver side should be pointing @ 9 o'clock and the passenger side one @ 3 o'clock.

It's just easier to say that the notch on each side needs to be facing the engine. Also make sure you're using the little lock washer on the front (weird black fastener) and make sure your spring is properly seated.

The popping you are hearing is most likely the result of the spring not being in the seat correctly.

Of course, torque everything to spec. Let me know if you need torque specs.

Do the D2 coilovers have the same kind of set up? I have a lot of clunking noises that have increased as the temperature has decreased. Everything has been tightened to factory spec. Also I sometimes hear a spring twisting noise in the rear coils. Any suggestions? Thanks
