Don't know if this will help you but a friend of mine had the same problem on his hatch and he just used a bunch of washers to fill in the space. He hasn't had any problems at all as far as I know. I wasn't personally there when he installed them so I don't know where that slack is coming from. The struts on my coupe went on without a problem, everything flush.

yea, i was going to go and get a piece of solid stock to fill it up, i have no wieght in the back..so i imagine when i put all the interior back in, it'll come out even more

i drove it around today, and it did alright..still clunked, but i think with the solid stock, if i dont do some crazy dukes of hazard ****, i'll be fine

How did you make out? I just installed tanabe sustec's on factory mounts and i have the exact same problem. Someone else suggested a stack of washers to me but is that normal? and is that the proper solution?

Anyone know?
