I'm looking to upgrade the suspension of my 1998 240sx. right now I have 18's on it and my real suspension need is a clean ride, nothing that's bumping me all over the road, and I want the car to sit lower. But I know that later I am going to put a more powerful motor into it, not really for drifiting as much as a quick and fast type setup, with maybe small amounts of getting sideways here and there (more if tires weren't so expensive). I read about the nismo suspension and it seems like they'd be a good buy its just expensive for springs and shocks. I really don't want to rub or sit so low I scrape almost everywhere. Also, I've had the KYBs before in another car and it still bounced around quite a bit, so I really want something stiff. I'm a college student trying to do this too, so breaking the bank is a must avoid unless the perfect setup for me is really expensive, then I guess I could save up. Anyways, any help would be greatly appreciated!! Sorry I know that was a lot to read.....

Hey thanks...I keep hearing tein basics. Another one that I personally had seen and thought looked good was the Stance GR+ coilovers....ever heard anything about those??

I would never recommend Tein Basics... they just aren't worth the money IMO. $800, and theres no damper adjustability and no camber plates? Plus they're only 1 way height adjustable.

Stances are nice. They come with 2 sets of springs, inverted monotube, iirc 32 way damper adjustable, and they have pretty nice customer support, from what I've heard.

Maybe I've over looked your first post, but what's your budget and your intended type of driving/ feel?

If you're looking for a really low drop, go with coilovers. Sportlines have a tendancy to blow dampers (I guess it depends on what kind of damper, but generally speaking), because of its low drop and hard to match spring rate.

like I asked earlier...

my budget is kinda limitless because I want to get exactly what I need, but at the same time I really dont want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on it...I want a smooth clean ride....biggest thing is that while I'm driving (because I'll do a lot of daily driving) I'm not bouncing around all over the highway. Other than that though I want a good fun suspension for curvy roads, the occasional "getting on it", and then the occasional drift on a rainy day Biggest thing is the general ride since I drive back and forth from school to work and home and put a good 30-40 miles on my car a day in just those trips....I've been looking at the pro-kit as well....but if I was to get a suspension right this minute it'd be KYB struts/eibach springs/spl parts cambers

If I were you, I'd totally look into getting a set of RSR race springs matched with some Koni dampers. Seriously, you'll love the feel. Albeit, you won't get a super low drop like you would with coilovers, but the set up has such a nice aggressive feel that won't kill your kidneys. This is one of my set ups that I'd liked the most. I've gone through eibach pro-kit/ tokico dampers, the blue ones (my very first set up), and I hated it. The spring rates were too soft, and my dampers blew within half a year.

well, I think its a pretty good investment, lol. Do some more research, there are TONS of companies that provide suspension for the s chassis. Otherwise, if you plan of going with Japanese coilovers, look for spring rates around 7kg up front, 5kg in the rear. IMO, those rates are the closest to comfortable yet aggressive enough for fun.

Sounds like the Endura-Tech coilovers fit your needs just fine.

Look 'em up.
