I don't know, I thought I had a warped rear passanger rotor because the back corner would shake, I thought it was only while braking and that is why i thought warped rotor. Today it would do it while just coasting.

It is a loud thunking sound and feels like my car is going over a pothole or something. It only does it while slowing down (both on the brakes and off), and doesn't do it consistantly.

Any clues what this could be? Could it still be a warped rotor?I'm PO'ed because I'm at school and do not have my tools here, nor do I have a jack to jack it up too look at it. From the rear all the suspension pieces seem to be in order (from what I could see). I just want to have some possible clue of what it is before I take it to a mechanic, because I don't know any around here and don't know of a reputable one to go to.

Sorry for the long post, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have any doubt, you could take the rotor to a shop and have them check it for flatness. Hell, you could even do it yourself with a 2x4.

possible axel or drive shaft? when slowing the load on the shafts is changed to opposing force on the joints. this could be your noise. is it rotational type noise? or is it just speratic?

Rotational, its just that my suspension doesn't shake every time. The noise is consistant.

Today it dawned on me that it could be a seized caliper, because my rotor looks like it has some grooves it in (like when your brake pads have been on there a while), and the pads/rotors are less than 10k old. Plus the rear brake is the only one that squeeks when braking. It being seized would also explain why it does it when coasting too, not just under braking.

Touchdown, I can't do anything right now. At school I don't have any of my tools, and in my condo complex we are not allowed to work on our cars (plus there is no garage). That's why I asked, just to get an idea of what it could be before I take it to a mechanic and get overcharged for a job I'd be able to do myself if I was at home.

Nis, I pray its not drivetrain problems, that would be major loot.

Thank you both for your imput.

NISTECH, this may not be your area of expertise, but I want to by my mom a new head unit for her 01 Sentra...Its a standard size correct? Or close to it? My mom says it is really small, but I think a single din head unit would fit fine...I haven't been in her car for months, and can't really recall what it looks like. I think its fine but she is making me second guess myself. I put this in the Sentra thread but it was unanswered because that forum is dead.

If she has the cd player its standard din. Have to get one of the kits though because its a wierd shape. I installed an alpine din in my 00 sentra back when I had it.
