injen + sohc + hotshot + hi flo + cat back

i figure around 165-170hp (correct me if im off)

will add asp pulley + 9hp (so they say)

have obx front/rear stut braces, kyb agx shocks, new oem tension rods, 15"stock alloys

will add suspension techniques sways

could add H&R springs but i like the ride height so i'd avoid it if i could

will cut rotors, new pads, stainless steel lines

master cylinder may be replaced (seems to have very slow drip)

do i need the springs?

will either setup be enough to for handling and stopping?

daily driver no racing/drifting

Yeah, looks fine to me, I'd stay away from the underdrive pulley though. It's not made to counter balance the crankshaft. For the springs, I'd get a set.

ok i'll take your word for it

could you possibly explain a little more about counterbalancing issues

how would a lightweight flywheel affect it?

the dampener on the pulley is to help reduce the the shock of the AC compressor kicking on. It has nothing to do with the internal balance of the engine. KA cranks are fully balanced by themselves. If you look at the pulley its the center section and the outside section that the belts ride on bolted to eachother with a rubber bushing imbetween. The rubber hardens unevenly overtime, I assure you any ASP or similar pulley you buy will be MUCH better balanced than your stock unit.

The point:The KA crank does not rely on the pulley or flywheel for balancing.

Ive been running ASP underdrive pulley for 1 year and 15k miles now, no problems.

ok confuse me a little more guys.

i have heard the KA is internally balanced ie. no harmonic balancer. i removed the AC so its not an issue. i just want longevity from the engine.

so the asp pulley with stock flywheel wont introduce any issues?

gumby, you heard correctly the ka is internally balanced

you may however get a little weakening of electronics with the pulley, and even more so if you happened to get a lighter flywheel.

and the #1 thing that effects handling and braking would be your tires, get a decent set.

Okay, Let's clear some things up.

A Harmonic Damper has absolutely NOTHING to do with the balance of the crank. The point of that rubber piece is to dampen the effects of the power stroke. Does the KA need to have it in there? I'm not answering that, because I don't really know. The engineers who built it seem to think so. Also, when I removed mine I started getting a noise at certain RPM, and I also blew my water pump right afterwards. With that said, I still have the undamped pulley installed, and don't plan to remove it.

For an example of this, grab a pen and thump it. Then stick a big eraser on the end of the pen and thump it again. You should feel the difference.

The flywheel has nothing to do with weakening the electronics.

well clearly the rubber ring is an issue of some debate. its a dampner, its a balancer, its for the ac, its for the powerstroke. wtf?

i have read that after installing a flywheel people have had weakening of electronics. It seemed logical to me.

bottom line, get a freakin lightweight pulley.
