suspensio/steering noise

i was driving my car in an autocross the other day and durring heavy steering wheel rotation my car made some funny creak sounds. If i had to guess I would say it was from the steering rack. Unfortunelty I can not reproduce this till next weekend without causing some serious unwanted attention. i wish i could explain it in better detail, but as of now it only happened while turning my steering wheel, accelerating, and sliding a bit. anyone run into something like this? think its safe for my car to dirve this weekend?

well, incase anyone was wondering i now believe my inner tie rods have bitten the dust. I am not sure if they are the culprete for the noise though. I put my car on the lift after work and found a bit of play in the inner tie rods. according to the service manual, a small amount of play is alowd in the outer tie rod end, but only 0 play is aceptable for the inner tie rod ends. off to napa to get some inner and outer moog tie rods tomarrow.
