Hey guys,

Let me start off by saying that I think this forum is pretty cool in terms of the technical articles and threads that I've seen while doing research here. Secondly, I'd like to thank Greg Childs for giving me the opportunity to talk about what I'm trying to do...

Basically, I am a hardcore DIY'er and hobbyist racer (among other things) and I came up w/ a concept for a P2P specialty tool rental marketplace that one can use to lend tools out to make money, search for tools to rent instead of buy, meet folks with similar interests, promote the passage of DIY knowledge, etc.

Since I've put a crap ton of my own money into this thing, I am trying to gauge how cheap I can make the service so that it helps as many people as possible w/o me losing my shirt for too long... The only way I can do this is to get as many enthusiasts as possible to fill out the survey linked off of our temporary page here: http://automotivespecialtytool.net/survey.php

The more I know about how interested folks are, the better idea I will have on pricing. In addition, checking out the temp. site will give you an idea of what's to come and it also provides a point of contact to answer questions (in addition to this thread)...

I encourage anyone who uses specialized tools on their machine to give the survey and the temporary site a go and give me some feedback.

Admins/Mods: If I've overstepped my bounds here, please contact me and I will adjust/edit as needed. Thanks!

she's a little beat up :( She's nick-named, "golf-ball" on ITRCA due to the third owner's crazy GF beating on it w/ a baseball bat... Once the race car gets the body work and the site goes live in November, I'll think about re-doing the body work on her...

Seems like the survey only covers the renting side, I didn't see a single question on how many of my own tools I would offer up other then if insurance would help.

Cause I for one am sure as hell not lending my tools out to randoms so they can use them as hammers and pry bars.

I had a bug. When I first started the survey it took me ot 40%, then when I clicked on the answer to the first question, it took me to another page which said 100%. I tried to go back and complete the page before and I got a message "sorry this survey has been completed before on this computer." and it takes me to the 100% page again.

Will you be able to rent out a Nissan Consult 1 or 2?

Need to clarify definition of Nissan Consult 1 or 2. I'm not sure I understand. Is that a tool or something?

As for the going back and forth, you can refresh the page and you can retake the survey on the same computer, I believe. If not, no worries.

I agree that the survey focuses on renting, but this information is more important for the cost estimates... Plus, I am limited to a total of ten questions before having to pay for surveys. I had to pick and choose my questions.

As for the insurance question, you're covered. You have grounds for a claim if the unit is misused (i.e. screwdriver used as prybar, etc...)

I hope I've answered all of the questions. Please post up if they remain or if you guys have additional suggestions. thanks!

I think this is OK.
I started at 40% too, but I think it just takes what ever page, or number of questions being displayed as your percent.

So that if there is 5 questions, and 5 per page you would start at 100%
20 questions and 5 per page, you start at 25%...ect, ect...

So... those of you that filled out the survey: Have you checked the site out yet??? We launched at SEMA (albeit w/ a few hiccups)... I'd like to get your input on what you think about the site and its layout!

http://www.automotivespecialtytool.net

We know there are a few things missing and we're compiling a list of updates for the next release.

Any input is appreciated. Thanks, guys and girls!
