As I watch the drama continuing to unfold in the Trump administration I'm surprised at the Republicans continuing to defend him and his underlings. They could go a long way to cleaning up their reputation as a party if they were calling for impeachment proceedings for the good of the country. They most likely have him on the emoluments clause. They also might have him on attempted witness intimidation (Sally Yates) and obstruction of justice in the case of the multiple firings of people leading investigations of his underlings' relationships with Russia and their tampering in the election.

There is a tremendous upside for the Republicans in such actions. They can campaign for reelection based on putting "country before party" while at the same time getting Mike Pence as President. With him at the helm they could implement almost everything they want. He shares their views and knows how to get things done in Washington. He'll work with them face to face, not belittle them from a distance, 140 characters at a time.

I couldn't agree more.

Donald's diehards don't think he's republican, republicans are the swamp and Donald is there to drain them.
Republicans don't think he's republican, just utilizing their platform to for his personal gain.
The majority of Americans want him gone.

There isn't a single upside to siding with him other than the optics of having the republican party looking "fractured". Pence is going to be on board with all their BS and he won't be a national security risk.

Why are they dying on a hill for Trump?

I kind of get the feeling they're planning the timing of it to make it even easier on them. Let the Trump chaos continue to wear everyone down and then they'll look like heroes who actually can get things done when they do pass everything with Pence. I think to succeed with the Christian Sharia part of their agenda moderates probably need to be even more fed up with it all than they are now.

Things move slowly for Republicans in Washington anyway. It took another two years of a lot more obstruction for them to finally turn on Nixon after Watergate became public.

I'm not surprised st Republicans.

They have been lying to the American people all during the Obama presidency and have continued to lie on just about everything.

The lies continue to unravel.

Keep following the money!

Ike Kaveladze, Who Attended Donald Trump Jr. Meeting, Once Accused U.S. Media of Russian ‘Witch Hunt’

http://www.newsweek.com/ike-kaveladze-t ... unt-638928

"The rhetoric echoes more recent claims by President Donald Trump and his supporters, who have said that the Democrats and the media are taking part in a “witch hunt” against him by claiming that Russia meddled in the 2016 presidential election and possibly coordinated with the Trump campaign.

Both the accusation and the “witch hunt” rhetoric have intensified in recent days, after The New York Times reported that Trump Jr. met in June 2016 with Natalia Veselnitskaya, a Russian lawyer linked to the Kremlin, and that the person who arranged the meeting had told Trump Jr. that Veselnitskaya promised damaging information about Hillary Clinton. “If it’s what you say I love it especially later in the summer,” Trump Jr. responded in an email to the intermediary."

Everyday more and more about the Trumps gets exposed. It's beginning to look like the entire family is a criminal enterprise.

If you had ever read 'Art of the Deal' back when it first published you would have known it close to 30 years ago. The man left living in reality long long ago. Why he flips out like a little child every time he loses at something he thinks he is owed. I wonder how many fixtures they've had to replace in the WH so far?

The problem is that actions speak MUCH louder than words. Donald Trump has proven through actions that he will NOT discuss anything with anybody despite what he says. He might be in a room with congressional leaders but he will TELL them what to do without any concept of what it takes to actually get it done. Belittling and berating them the entire time.

It's probably because they are more scared of not getting re-elected than anything. None of the politicians on Capitol Hill are willing to do what is right for people because they want to keep their jobs. What's been forgotten is the original reason to hold their office in the first place: to serve the people. Now it's serving their own personal agenda while someone puts on rosey shades over their eyes.

People like Flake, Corker, and McCain need grow balls and speak out to what the people need and pursure that while they are in power all the while seeking re-election, they will continually be sheep leading sheep. They have a unique position to actually stand up for the consituents they represent and stand in the face of the opposers of the people and show that the people will not go down fighting. They can still show and inspire change that's needed within our politics today.
