Several design elements of the J have always bothered me as being a little "blah," one being the generic clear sidemarkers (which look very similar to those on mid '90s Maximas and Quest vans of all things). While the headlights themselves are very nice looking, quality units with cool projectors, I always felt that the sidemarkers seriously detracted from their looks and gave the face of the car a less than aggressive look. Soooo, one day it dawned on me that there was a way to rectify this by simply by making the sidemarkers darker than the headlights. After picking up some VHT tint, here is how things turned out. I know everyone has their own tastes, but let me know what you all think, as I have not seen anyone do this to the J before. I'm quite happy with the car's new face (which is noticibly snarkier). In fact, lots of people now do double takes (I THINK because they are not sure what kind of car it is, not because I made it galactically stupid looking) :/

Shoots. I'd remembered your headlight mods (and even pulled one of mine out thinking I was going to paint the chrome trim rings surrounding the lenses) but I'd forgotten that you had also modified your sidemarkers. Looks mean.

Final picture. (the darn pics always come out so dark). Rest assured that the tinting on the lense is not so dark as to raise legal issues, plenty of light comes through when the lights are on.

Exactly. The mod works particularly well on a dark color. Mine is Emerald Black and the tinting even takes on a slight shade of the green because of that, an added benefit I didn't anticipate.

Mid '90s Quest vans and Maximas from around the world are undoubtably outraged by this sort of defection from the genaric profile fold.

well, mine is 2 tone silver upper/gray lower so i'll probably do mine the way swimshark did. but it won't stay those colors too long after it starts warming up.
