I need help.I was looking around the web the other day and I came across a big brake kit.It included supra TT 13" rotors,z32 calipers, new mounting hardware, and lines. The kit was pretty high, but all I want are the mounting brakets to use the larger rotors.Does anyone know of a site that sells this kit? Thanks alot

I think youre talking about the Underground kit.<--- Link is to the left

Their site says they dont sell the brackets separately. If they did, you could source youre own calipers and rotors and they wouldnt be able to charge $450 just for the Supra rotors and brackets (also includes brake lines and hardware).

I dont think it will take long for someone to copy those brackets. Or maybe this is a custom job for a good shop.

Some links to various kits on that page. They have ones that use Cobra rotors and 3000GT rotors.

to be honest, you dont need anything larger...those brakes(the Z32 turbo ones) were designed for a 3600lb "supercar" to slow it, without fade, from 100+mph..

apply that kind of resilience to a 2600lb car, and its more than enough to take the abuses you can throw at them.-chet

...but stock powered Z32TT's can easily fade anything remotely close to streetable with their stock rotors(at the track).

My 212rwhp, 3200lb curb weight E36 M3 has 315x28mm rotors and larger pads than Z32's and I can fade my brakes within about 4-5 laps depending on how deep I go into the corner. I find myself having to coast about 300-400 feet into the braking zone so I am going that much slower to have a hope of my brakes lasting. Ducting helped a bit, but only gave me an extra 2-4 lap headroom before they faded.

One might be able to get by with a borderline streetable pad(Ferodo DS2500, Hawk HP+ etc.) on a 2500-2600lb 240SX with a decent(slightly over 200rwhp) amount of grunt ONLY if you had >12" rotors and some ducting. Otherwise I don't see 11" Z32 discs being able to hold the heat required.

I've never heard so many people say you don't need more brakes. Heck, I'll take all the braking I can get, makes you WAY faster if you can dive into corners without worrying if you're going to be jumping around in the kitty litter at the end of the straight in a few seconds.

For street driving all this is unnecessary though. Heck, stock 240SX brakes should be fine for street driving, as you can still lock your wheels up and shouldn't be fading them if you've got a halfway decent pad in there.

Good link Dori,One of the links shows adapters made to run Z32 calipers with Cobra rotors. The brackets look fairly simple to fabricate. I'm sure if you really wanted to do this (Z32 calipers with any larger rotor), a good machine shop could hook you up.

Z tuner sells adapters for $100. Theyre for rotors 1.3" larger than stock. I'm guessing thats about 12.3" Wouldnt these work for any 12.3" disc of the same thinkness??http://ztuner.com/brakes.php

You have to take into account the offset different rotors will have with respect to the hub as well.

I could do a dimensioned diagram of a 3000GT rotor with a 300ZX caliper without too much trouble, but at $100/pair it is starting to look like a waste of my time unless I were to get a few pairs made up then sell them here for like $50-75/pair(depending on machining and materials cost). A one off set of adapters would probably take a few hours to get "perfect" and the machining time will add up on only 2 pieces.

I wonder if the Z Tuner adapters also come with necessary hardware. Not that it is all that hard to buy a few Grade8 bolts and washers, but that would add a little bit more cost.
