I heard from a guy at RB Motoring that by using the R34 Bell Housing, and Toyota V161 (Supra TT 6spd) transmission that it is possible to be made to mate with the RB26DETT.

How is it possible to use the R34 Bell Housing on the Supra transmission exactly? I can't remember how he said it could be done. He did say that they since they were both made by getrag it was possible.

perhaps he was using a bell housing off of the vspec 2 gearbox which is a 6 spd awd box.

There is a top line tuner guy here in Japan who has a MKIV Supra with an RB26DETT in it. He took it to England and got a bunch of tickets for things like speeding, burnouts on puublic roads, wrecless driving. It's in one of my Option videos. Some good stuff...but not sure what transmission he is using.

Thats Kuzihoko Nagata, CEO of Top Secret. I'm not sure what transmission he's using.

But yes he did say the R34 Vspec II 6spd Bell Housing.

you guys might also wanna know the gear ratios associated with this transmission and our crappy 4.08 rear ends, my car has a lot of trction issues, and i think some of them are due to the shortness of gears in my car with the v161\1st 332nd 553rd 794rth 1025th 1226th 150

hmm well i decided to take a look at getrag's website to see if it offered any explanation and i found this:

http://www.getrag.com/176/176

which shows type: 233 + All-wheel drive speed manual: 6 Torque in Nm: to 490 Center distance in mm: 85 1st gear ratio: 3,828 Weight: 51,0 Applications: Nissan Skyline GTR, Toyota Supra, Supra Turbo

Well since it has the skyline and supra are under the same applications wouldn't that mean that it is the same transmission. Its just a matter of finding the proper bellhousing ya?

That's what I've gathered. ^

Too bad getrags are $$$.

I'm just going to stick with the 25 turbo box untill it blows up.

Yet for the 3 years in a row it was entered, the 0-300km/h challenge the top secret supra with the rb26dett decimated all the 2jz supras including models from trust and hks kansai. Pointless? I beg to differ.

Wasn't there a RWD GTR I think it was the R33 LM or something like that. It probably used the same supra transmission.

its not hard to do, just mate the supra trans to the r34 vspec 2 bell which was a getrag 6spd similar to the trans in the supra...good luck finding that bellhousing tho.

You realize that sourcing a Supra 6 speed is incredibly expensive and difficult right?

QFT
a local supra owner told me last year that converting an auto to 6 speed ran in the 5k-7k range.
which he then did.

The rb25 transmission is pretty good, but if I were gonna change transmissions I'd go with the Supra r154. it's cheaper than the getrag and can hold up to 700hp.
