Drove an SL with manual transmission and convenience package last night. MSRP was $15,905 but Additional Dealer Markup brought the price up to $17,705. I offered $15,000 and they countered with $16,655 and not a penny less. So I am currently Versaless. Think the price will come down over the next few weeks?

I'm certainly no expert on car supply, but in my area at least there aren't Versa's lined up on the lots. Whether it's an artifical shortage or not I don't know. I just can't conceive wanting a car so bad that you would pay $2k over sticker. Obviously people are doing it or they wouldn't have told you to hit the door.

It sure seems like the prices are all over the place. Some people are getting great deals closer to invoice and then many like you are reporting huge dealer markups. Someone should plot it on a map!

Anyway, hang in there if you want a Versa. I think it's worth MSRP if you want one in the near future, but I don't think any car is worth the surcharge you were seeing.

Good luck.

The Versa isn't in full production yet, so supplies are indeed limited. Prices should drop later this fall when the hatchback reaches full production alongside the sedan.

Honda Fit has roughly the same 2nd sticker mark-up. I was happy enough on the last car that I purchased also had limited availability issues that the dealer didn't second sticker the MSRP.

It's all supply & demand.

I just went in for a test drive not really wanting to buy, so I just thru him a price and he accepted it. I tryed to get it for less but he wouldent budge below $12,900. (MSRP $13,865)I got mine for $965 below invoice

$12,900? What did you get, the Versa less engine and transmission?

12,900 is about right for a versa S manual.

Oregone - The Versa is hard to find, yes, but not hard to find at MSRP without haggling... and some people have had good luck getting it for less than MSRP. Your dealership is smoking crack.

Want to come up to WA? there's some good dealers here.
