Recently installed Sirius in my '03 M45 using the factory kit.

Part of the process involved removing the underdash panel on the passenger side. Attached to that panel is the connector for the passenger air bag - a big yellow gizmo.

Didn't know it was bad karma to disconnect that sucker.

Put the car back together and now I get a warning message on the display, plus a constantly blinking red light on the dash reminding me about potential problems with that SRS.

Is there some trick to getting that warning to stop popping up? Everything is back together and plugged-up just fine.

Do I need to take it to the dealer???

I hope not.

Please help if you can...

Most likely the code just needs to be reset. You can try to take the negative terminal off the battery for 20 minutes then putting it back on, that might do it. If not you can go to auto zone and they have a code puller you can use for free, I beleive you can also reset that with the puller.

Make sure that you NEVER unplug any wires in your car that are wrapped in Yellow tubing or say SRS or anything like that. The airbag system is so touchy that as an installer I heard a couple stories of airbags deploying from just plugging those wires back in. If you do need to unplug them for some reason make sure you unplug your battery and then depress your brake to make sure to use up all unspent electricity...........

All in all it should be a simple fix as your triggered the system by unpluging that wire. Hope that helps!

I did the same thing with the overhead console while connecting a radar detector to the 12v source on the mirror.

Have you tried the battery disconnect to see if it reset yet?

Disconnected the battery for over 2 hours last night.

No change.

Checked, double-checked and re-checked all the wiring connections - everything looks fine.

I've got an April 3 appointment with my local Infiniti dealer for some other service.

Guess I'll add this to the list...

There is a procedures for resetting the SRS warning light on the M series. You can look it up in the manuals on here (disconnecting the battery won't do it).

I did the same thing while installing radar detector. Relieved to see that the reset procedure worked - no dealer, no check to write. All is well

Does anyone have the write-up for resetting the AirBag Warning? My M is out of warranty and I prefer to do it myself if possible

I followed the instructions on page 31 of the SRS section of the vehicle service manuals for the 03 M45 found here on the site.

Simple as pie, and the light is out.

Quickie instructions for those that want 'em.

1. Turn key on.2. Once airbag light has displayed for 7 seconds, turn key off within 1 second.3. Wait more than 3 seconds4. Repeat 1, 2 and 3 two more times (three on/off cycles total)5. Turn key to on - this puts the system in diagostic mode.

Notes - the 7 second delay corresponds to the normal on-time of the airbag lights. Just switch the key off as soon as they go out - wait at least 3 seconds, then repeat the cycle.

There are a series of flashes that will indicate the source of the malfunction, but in my case, I really didn't care about the flashes, as I was the cause of the malfunction by disconnecting/reconnecting the passenger airbag.

Once you're in diagnostic mode, resetting the light will occur once you turn the key off, wait a few seconds, and turn it back on again - this puts it back in "user" mode.

Glad you got everything fixed, remember, yellow rapped wires in cars are bad hmmmmkaaaayyyy.

If you do for any reason need to unplug them make sure battery is disconnected and you have hit the brake for a few seconds to consume any charge left in the system.

This step worked for my car. The warning light came on out of nowhere. After completing the sequence the light was still on, but after driving and turning the car off and on - the light was off.

Thanks - This saved some time and money.

If it comes back on, then it might be the faulty wiring harness under the driver's seat. There was a recent service bulletin on it from Infiniti, which they will fix for free.

WOW this worked PERFECTLY!!!!!!

To reset the light simply turn the iginition to the on position, (you dont need to start it). All the lights should stay on for thier diagnostic check. As soon as the airbag light goes off, before it starts flashing, immeditatly turn the car off. Repeat this 3 or 4 times (turning to on then off) and the light should go away.

Just fixed my air bag warning light issue with the above mentioned solution.

my supplemental air bag warning light is going off again. I wanted to ask any of you who may know this if I reset it again following the same steps i did last time (see above) and it works - should i be concerned about there being an actual issue with my airbags???

My light has been flashing for several months and I have tried to reset by disconnecting the battery and removing the fuse. None of which worked. I tried the method posted above and it worked like a charm. Thanks for the posts, it probably saved me a ton of money by not having to take it to the dealer (which is why I left it for so long) to be estimated. I Love this site!!!

Boom - just got a new to me '04 M45 and I put my laptop bag in the front passenger seat which (I think) triggered the Airbag warning light to constantly blink even after I removed the bag. Happened 2 days ago - came in this weekend and began reviewing NICO 'cause I figured this has happened to someone before. Love this sight....
