Ok, I typed in "J30 supercharger" and clicked search using Google. I came up with this website that claims to incrase 35 hp for ~$70. Does something sound fishy or what? Can anyone help me out? If it really does increase 35 hp...I will buy it in a heartbeat. Later...

It's too bad the Nissan Engineers didn't think of this gadget. Or the Porche, Mercedes, Lexus, BMW, Audi engineers either. Actually, the decals they're giving away would probably have as much effect on your J as this wonder device.

fishy. how can one product produce exact same result on any make/model of car?

you'd be a lot better off doing a thorough cleaning of the throttle body and intake system. can make a huge difference.

Yeah, I'm surprised they don't say, "Need more power? Order 2!!!"Snakeoil salesmen have been hawking their amazing products to automobile consumers for almost as long as the Model T has been around. I've seen quite a lot of crap advertised, from pellets you drop in your gas tank to electromagnets you place on your fuel line to $5 "chip" gains on Ebay. As far as this product in particular, does a toilet flush faster at the equator or at the poles? Depends on which one doesn't have a bunch of metal blades blocking the s*** from going down. Vortex my A$$. Those blades will only create turbulence, also known as DRAG. You wouldn't want that product inside the air intake any more than you would want it on the body of a land speed vehicle. Not to mention the areal blockage created.

damn, i got all excited thinking this thread was actually about a supercharger...

PS: just recently a NA VG30DE block with TT injectors had stock turbos bolted to it. using ashley power's Zemulator, timing and fuel was perfectly tuned in a half hour to produce 340 rear wheel horse power at 11 PSI....

which in turn means if we can find a supercharger that can flow the sam CFM as those bitty turbos, we can match that power on the J30 with the use of the zemulator....

mmmmmm...yum.

340 RWHP!!!

who knows about reliability....

but who really cares

the NA and TT share same crank and rods

worries would be pistons themselves and the exhaust valves...

the TT had INCONEL exhaust valves...us J30 kids only have stainless steel... other than that, and under piston oil squirter minor differences, the block is the same and should hold for 500 RWHP...

dual superchargers? remove the AC and PS? haha...

...yeah, id rather go with something a little more permanent than nitrous. ive always considered nitrous cheating anyway.

"ive always considered nitrous cheating anyway."

And [supercharging] increasing the density/pressure of the air is not cheating.????????????????

Moving your car to another planet with more than 21% oxygen might not be cheating?

Who set the rules?

I'm with you eswift. A nitrous tank to last 400 miles would be bigger than the car. If it's not always available, what's the point? Hence the preference for mechanical devices.

I like the idea of a 25% oxygen atmosphere. Might cure the smokers.

The ratio of O2 to other gases in the atmosphere is crucial in forest fire suppression. A higher percentage of O2 would lead to devasting fires and deforestation. Higher concetrations of O2 would also make rusting (oxidization) a bigger problem. Oxygen is a very reactive gas. The balance of atmospheric gases is a remarkable thing. N for plants, CO2 for heat trapping, O2 for respiration and O3 (ozone) for protection from ultraviolet radiation. A delicate balance created and maintained by living organizims.

It is believed that the earth's early atmosphere was almost devoid of gaseous O2. Anerobic bacteria were the first life forms and a waste product of their metabolism is oxygen. For 100's of millions of years these bacteria dumped their O2 waste into the atmosphere until they actually poisoned it for themselves. This led to the advent of organisms that could take advantage of O2's highly reactive qualities to evolve "higher" and more complex forms culminating in the J30 owner. :D (Hey, it's just a theorey :D )

haha, nice vimy,i like that theory.

i consider nitrous cheating because its like giving a fighter a little dose of adrenaline, its really not natural, and its not good for the long term. i cant imagine engines lasting very long with such spikes of output, especially after thyve been on the road for 100k miles already.

on the other hand, a correctly designed turbo or supercharger system is not necessarily detrimental to the engine.

maybe this is just a fuction of turbo and superchargers being better designed for specific applications, nitrous just seems crude.
